Creative Culture in an Organization

The ability of an organization to manage, subsist and develop determines how operative the organization is. Organizations keep on facing indefinite and disordered environs that is caused by difficult unions, competitors, resources difficulties, innovation, bye-laws and other pressures that require improved adaptability.

In this age, there is an increasing demand for workers who know their responsibilities and are eager to carry out these responsibilities without pressure from their supervisors or managers. Due to this, managers want an alternate system of controlling employees which is as dependable as the organizational structure for the achievement of the organizational goal and objectives. The need to achieve the organizational goals and objectives has given rise to managers seeking cultural means of encouraging their employees to be more useful. Although, organizational structure is key in outlining employee’s responsibility inside an organization, organizational culture ensures that employees execute their duties with little or no opposition.

Creativity and innovation enables an organization become the market leader in their fields. However, numerous organizations do not have this fundamental capacities. A key factor in this shortcoming is a failure of organizations to build up a culture where creativity and innovation is given the topmost priority. Organizations don’t become creative by simply hiring creative people. Creativity is the use of imaginations to make real things. Landry Dale stated that ‘when workers carry out their responsibilities creatively, they propose new and beneficial products, concepts, or processes that make available important raw material to an organization for succeeding improvement and probable implementation’. Organizations are in search of how to nurture individual originality and teamwork because it is a key basis of novelty that is essential in the current market. The process of employee development can be triggered by resourcefulness and innovation. It has been discovered that the reason for stagnation in many organizations is the disregard for creativity.

Creativity is a philosophy and principle that should be adopted by every organization that wants progress and advancement on the part of employees. Organizations these days don’t take creativity into consideration, rather they set down stringent rules and regulations which the employees must follow in carrying out their daily activities. In this kind of setting, employees are not allowed to bring out new ideas or ways of carrying out their activities instead they must follow the organizational policies.

Managers should ensure that creative culture is incorporated into the organizational culture of the firm to encourage employee development. Managers should ensure that they encourage employees to come up with novel and original ideas and these ideas are implemented through innovation. Employees will be encouraged to imbibe a creative culture if they realize that their ideas are put into consideration when solving problems and improving the quality of services to customers.
